PLANT CHARACTERISTICS

GB 711 brings a whole new unique look to early maturity red grain sorghums. It is characterized by distinctively short and very uniform height stalks. The head type is open, which facilitates fast drydown once the grain is physiologically mature. Test weight of GB 711 ranges from 56 to 57 lbs. per bushel.

USE OF HYBRID

GB 711 has already established an excellent track record for itself. It is a very early maturity hybrid with a uniform plant and dependable yield record year after year. It can be planted as late as July 1st most years in Kansas for use as double crop after wheat or to replace other crops which have been hailed out or otherwise damaged and failed. Narrow rows of 30 inches or less are recommended for best yields with this hybrid.

GB 711 does have a more determinate head type, so the number of plants per acre can have some effect upon the yield. The recommended Plants Per Acre on dryland is from 33,000 to 45,000 PPA depending upon annual rainfall.
